A highly textured, thick layered paint technique is used to create these stunning and unique original paintings. It is impossible to photograph them to justify the effect when seen in the flesh. Standing close-up, the undulations, hollows and wells of paint and texture are experienced, adding another element of enjoyment; that of a physical presence, as well as a visual pleasure. Metallic paint used in many of Ford’s paintings speak of the joy of the pieces, scintillate with metallic brightness and light up the piece. These pieces change throughout the day with moving light.

Mainly painted in acrylic, most are on canvas, with some being painted directly onto wood board. A few have the added intrigue of being painted onto wood board wrapped in bubble wrap, although only those who know this would be able to identify the technique.
